Sushi Rice

30-40 minutes


2,5 dl sushi rice (risotto rice or “grøtris” is a good substitute if you cannot find sushi rice)

4 dl water

0,4 dl mirin

1 tsp salt

1 tbsp sugar


Rinse the rice in cold water, then cook it for around 15 minutes with the lid on (we normally just boil the rice in the microwave in a plastic bowl. The best would of course be if you had a rice cooker!).

In a pot, mix sugar, salt and mirin while carefully heating it. It is done when all the sugar has dissolved. Set aside and let it cool.

When the rice is done, let it rest for 10 minutes. Then add the mirin mix to the rice. Make sure the rice does not get too wet.

Let the rice cool in room temperature with a damp cloth covering it.

Now you are ready to make sushi :)
